Might As Well Could Have Happened

I was taken to an alien location...
ship or planet when I was 1-2
years old and re-inserted to my
family with knowledge of a purpose,
or mission that was at first embryonic,
but soon became a certain way of
questioning when looking at the world.
I didn't believe words that came out
of mouths. Certain authors, poets,
gave me clues as to what was going
on in human existence, until I
discovered Buddhism and met
enlightened beings. I followed the
instructions and discovered eventually
that we are the aliens. The other aliens
are no more alien to us that weird Uncle
Harry. In fact, they might be nicer. It's
other humans one has to be wary of.

Dancing To Beethoven

Any music can be danced to...
even just sound itself.
Since life is improvisation,
might as well dance to it.
A painting by Matisse of dancers
is itself experienced by the viewer
as a dance...a play is a dance of
stilted movement....birds dance to
make other birds...words are music...
the elders knew dancing was sanity.

Beethoven's Third wasn't just dancing...
it was also fucking...which proves that
fucking is also dancing.

Nothing Happens

What if something really big
hit the earth and turned it into
dust?

There won't even be a memory
left of humanity...as if the earth
never happened.

The universe wouldn't blink
an eye.

If nothing happens, how can there
be karma? How can something that
didn't happen affect future events?

It doesn't, and yet, it does...for the
same reason as why thoughts
travel faster than light.

The same reason as we seem to
exist, and yet experience is
constantly changing. You can't
put your finger on a table and say:
"This is real." because it's only
a temporary phenomenon. Human
experience is even more ephemeral.
We might have a table in our house...
The table in the morning is pretty
much the same as it will be in the
evening. We however, might feel,
(usually do), completely different than
the way we felt in the morning. Yet,
we still answer to our names, put on
a smile and pretend things are great,
trying to make it all seem real and
really happening in a way we expect
it to be, in the worst cases.

"Let's Write A Surreal Poem" (under the influence of....surrealism)

What,
you me and that giraffe
over there?
OK,
but the Giraffe has to start.

Giraffe:

I miss the voluptuousness
of the African plains.

You:

A fish is plagiarism.

Me:

Mayonnaise or bayonette
would go nicely with some
capers and
the Second World War.

Giraffe:

I'm so horny I could
fuck a water buffalo.

You:

Dare I remind you of the
Second Amendment and the
implications of peace in our time?

Me:

Well, since you put it that way,
I have no recourse but to evolve
suddenly into an etherial plane, else
to be subject to endless excelsior.

Giraffe:

I smell like a flamingo.
I must have pissed myself.

You:

Giraffe, always thinking of yourself.
That's why they call you guys animals.

Me:

Well, since you put it that way, I have no
blah blah blah except this ba-na-na.

Thoughts From A Drained Swamp

Pupils deliver
dead set reckoning
a mist on the shoals

not enough time yet for
the wound to have healed
and already another operation

on the edge of our...lives
you can see clearly from
any seat in the house...looks
like another encore

rainy season is longer
this year...
pass the everything
while there still is some

Coda

The Zen poet at his table,
in front of him an open window,
the wabi-sabi, the tamasha,
co-emergent; feeling the
wind from butterfly wings in
Kyoto on his cheek as the
shakuhatchi from his radio
ripples the waves of
Washington.

Will he continue in this floating
world, or, fade like the imprint
of a crane in the sky?
Hara-kiri was never his forte...
but, tsunami, divine wind.
Nature doesn't get pissed off...
it evens things out over time.

In Media Res

No end, no beginning,
everything starts in the
middle of things already
apace. We play "catch up"
and mesh with other gears.
No wonder we can't
understand how it all began.
We grab a handle and hang
on for dear life.

Or, let go, and find the place
it starts, the place it always was.

Jar Of Flies

Attraction to the truth,
not the lies, now that
truth has taken down
their illusion vamp.

I'm in no one's camp.
I wait to see what comes
out of this jar of flies.

Trump's Win

Most of the babies that are crying now
will soon forget there even was an
election, their attention spans being
what they are. Trump's win was
rope-a-dope executed masterfully.
He kept himself in the public eye,
daring the pundits and the pols to hit
him, which they did with everything
they had, but all the blows turned out
to be glancing, and didn't affect his
momentum. It did affect the Dems,
who flailed wildly at the end, like
George Foreman about to go down.
Trump sold himself like a product,
keeping the eyes on himself and
driving his opponents crazy. Very
smart. The Dems thought people
weren't paying attention, but, it
turns out, they were.

Election Weather

After election,
rain falling outside, there was
a moment of peace.

Discombobulated
as if someone changed
the scenery, just slightly,
but didn't tell me.

On the internet, waves
of foment, aftershock...
that was a big one.

Proposal For A New College Course

"What Went Wrong?"

In this course we will study global
history beginning with the industrial
revolution. The purpose of this course
is to understand how and why Homo
Sapiens fucked up to the point of
destroying the species, and if remedial
action could save the planet. We will
examine the advertising industry as a
function that sells without moral
constraints and as the driving force
behind the cult of materialism and the
metastasizing of the American Dream.
We will examine how this sickness has
infected every aspect of public life;
education, government, sports, the arts,
and public opinion. What if anything can
be done to reverse the brainwashing?
We will examine the phenomenon of
Donald Trump, and how his campaign
has exposed this sickness that threatens
the existence of intelligent life on the earth.
