Raw Snails

I was observing my garden, when,
on a leaf I saw a snail…looked like
it had been in a fight! It’s shell was
chipped, there was a gash in it’s side…
it was a mess of a snail.

It didn’t want to converse…it kept
snailing along…as if nothing
had happened.

I didn’t think of you
before you died…
it was over by then…
the wound
will heal…is healing
slow, like a snail…like
the stars in the vast
distances moving
ever so slowly.

Info Glut

I can’t think of anything
to look up on the computer…
it’s all there…everything
that has ever ever
happened and what it all
means, and everything that
is happening right now
every where,,,but I don’t care.

Or maybe my brain sheepishly
sleepy after all the info glut…
where can I throw up my mind?
Should I be Thankful, or, can I
just watch football?

It’s like playing Mah-Jong
solitaire on the computer:
maybe there is a secret
knowledge, that, if I knew,
I could beat this game….
I could find the secret
on the computer…..

!!!TILT!!!

I’m a strong and sane man
listening to the Beatles….
Hello, I’m Hal 2000
How can I help you?

Ode To Lost Time

The time you think you lost
in the prisons
in the libraries
when you could
have been doing
something better
whatever that
means to you now.

That time is not
your enemy, in fact,
that time has the same
value as any other time.

You were alive, you breathed,
you did your time….if you feel
you lost time, it means you have
this time now.

America The Insane

Congress, the media, entertainment,
every aspect of society in the USA
that affects the common person
is filled with rabid minds.

America the charnel ground
of excess, indulgence, hyperbole,
The Daily Show: a parody of a parody
that shows the actual truth; a truth lost
in the fun house mirror.

A perfect ground for Buddhism….
millions looking for their lost minds.

Shambhala Vision?

the canopy (Shambhala) is supported by a crystal pole which is the practitioners. How to reach countless people. What binds his students (trust, devotion) “trust in what?” (Trust=loyalty)_not asking for loyalty to (SMR) as a person…it’s loyalty to the “seat” of the Sakyong, which is the seat of transmission. SMR’s responsibility as holder of that seat is to transfer that to the next Sakyong So, loyalty is to “what this stands for” (Notes from RR’s recent discussion on Dispatches)

However, if we do not make the effort to be honest and challenge ourselves
emotionally at this crossroads, in ten years time we will have just prolonged our
vacillation and encouraged another generation of vacillating minds.
(from “Letter of the Morning Sun” by SMR)

The German people are happy in the knowledge that a constantly changing vision has
been replaced by a fixed pole

And because these are the best of the German nation, they can in proudest self esteem
subordinate themselves to this leadership in ever growing numbers.

For all time to come The Party will be the source of political leadership….it will, in it’s teaching be a training school like a holy order for political leaders.

Adolf Hitler

It was the analogy of the fixed pole that struck me when I saw the speech of Hitler.
Where had I heard that recently? Why did it strike me? I’m not suggesting any similarity
between these people. It’s the use of language that interests me. The more abstract
ideas and language are, the less they convey direct experience. At times one thinks one has heard something, but one is not quite sure of the meaning. The extreme example of this would be Orwellian Double speak.

This was always the challenge of teaching Shambhala Training. Concepts such as basic goodness, warriorship, ect., have to be fleshed out with examples from real life so their meaning can be understood. Teaching Buddhism as well needs common examples. Without that element, communication can sound extremely good and inspiring, even…
but what, if anything, is actually being said?

Dynamite Buddhism

Dynamite Buddhism, (not to be confused with Dynamite Islam)
is a new take on the wisdom of the Buddha. It’s a one shot,
winner-take-all view of enlightenment. The Buddhist teachings affirm
it’s easier to attain enlightenment in the bardo, when you don’t have
a clunky body blocking the view. In “Dynamite Buddism”@, we
concentrate on the death experience, where enlightenment is most available.

Going right to the core, the student is trained extensively in the teachings
of the bardo. When the student’s money is almost gone, he or she does
a week long dark retreat…in preparation for the Big Satori,@. the culmination
of the Dynamite Buddhist path. The student blows themselves up with a dynamite
vest. It must work, because I’ve never had any complaints

In fact, here are a few testimonials:

Joe Schmidt: "!!!!"

Jane Doe: "!!!!!"

Mike Hunt: "!!!"

Natural Causes

Light scatters…
Arms fall off…
The pitter patter
of tiny feet,,,
I wonder if there’s
food in the refrigerator?

Sound of bird miles away
ocean…still and vast
sky bright and grey.

Inventory:
the vessel is wearing out
mind clear as a bell
involuntary organic
made the right choices
in spite of the fear
I don’t know how I knew
ready to go anytime
all a dream now…impartial
fantastic colorful neutral
unintended coincidental
nothing on the shelves.

Bougainvillea brilliant mauve
Day-Glo through the window
Here, Now, Really? How fun!
give it to everyone, please enjoy…
your pain is yours and mine…my
joy is yours…that’s really the way
it is, why there is love at all.
