In the Fifties, we thought we knew what

normal was…it wasn´t far from where we

were…

the houses looked the same…

children dressed the same…

parents had the same autos

and refrigerators.

Why not?

People could picnic on the weekends,

go bowling every Friday.

 

Didn't last, did it?

 

Now ¨normal¨ is a dirty word.

Now ¨normal¨ is radical.

Now ¨normal¨ is revolutionary.

Now normal, sane, decency,

common sense, reasonability

are seen as the enemy

of someones abnormality.

A fresh teenaged girl walking

I could not add anything

to that tableaux, I would not

change it in any way.

If I was a jerk poet, I would have titled

the poem:

¨Mundane Quantum of Beauty¨

or,

¨Mundane Beauty Quantum¨

¨Quantum Beauty Moment¨

¨Quanta of Beauty¨

just to stick that word “quantum¨

in there, somewhere, because it´s

such a hip cliché throw away phrase

these days, I thought I´d throw it into

the poem to make it more groovy.

But, it didn´t.

Words Come Out Of Music
