Go Towards The Socks

I wear stockings with varying degrees

of garishness. The brighter they are

the more people avoid me and give

me funny looks.

So, even with socks, it seems, there is

a limit as to how much light people

can take without freaking out and

falling back into the dullness of beige.

Chaos

¨Chaos is very good news.¨ Trungpa

¨A. A violent order is a disorder; and

B. A great disorder is an order. These

two things are one.¨. Wallace Stevens

We´re born in media res, in the middle

of the action. Each mind has to make

sense of its senses.

¨The swamp is deeper than we thought.¨

The greater the sacrifice

the greater the victory.

Our lives, so precious and rare are whisps

of smoke in the wind of time.

In the midst of frenzied battle, in pouring

rain, the samurai archer stands on a mound

of earth, in the middle of the maelstrom,

calmly measuring his aim.

Good News

Buddhism starts with the bad news.

If there weren´t problems that

Buddhism dealt with, it wouldn´t exist

or be at all necessary.

¨Life is suffering.¨ It´s extremely good

news to know this truth. If we live in

the delusion there´s a brass ring or pot

of gold we just have to get to for our

lives to be fulfilled, we waste them in

fruitless ambition activities.

Life is not only suffering, to be sure.

There is love, joy, brilliance; a myriad

of wonderful qualities. But, if Buddhism

didn´t point our obsessions to begin

with,  there would be no place to start

dismantling our made up, false

narratives.

The truth that life is suffering and not

all that enduring might inspire and

encourage us to get busy finding out

what life is really all about and why

we have a problem with it.
