Acting
The good actor does not act, pretend, mimic, create
his character. The actor becomes the manifestation of
the character. You could say the character possesses
the actor. A danger for actors is to not be able to get
out of character.
You can’t be a character in a play or movie and
experience you ego at the same time. There’s no room
in your mind for that. It’s like trying to walk and chew
gum with your mind at the same time. But, when
you are that character, there is a rush of creative high.
The great thing it shows is that what you think of
yourself is also made up.
We’re all acting, improvising our lines,
preparing to say what we need to say,
trembling with stage fright,
wondering how our reviews will be.
Our character is wearing a little thin,
beginning to show the emptiness within.
