Challenge
If you start with the observation that life
is a challenge, where do you go from there?
(I ask the muse…the muse responds)
Go to the labyrinth of the Universities to dig
deeply for the truth only to find the only reward
is tenure?
A simple child is found to be good at baseball.
His life becomes a series of home runs. The only
challenge is the end of his career, and inevitability
of being nowhere.
The lone monk in a hut by a stream knows the
challenge is his own mind, to be liberated from
the challenge of the instinct for survival.
The challenge of life is unfulfillable if it needs
to be fulfilled.
That is why the monk is content with nothing
but the sound of the water.
