The Ones That Broke Free
Coming of age in the sixties and seventies
in the United States was like being in a particle
collider of social forces and energies that smashed
some barriers temporarily, brought increased
awareness in many spheres, failed miserably
in the political arena, created a modern template
of what society could be, and was, later,
overwhelmed by the persistence of corruption, by
then, endemic in the government.
Some jumped out of windows on LSD….
self defenestration…..
some became converted capitalists….it was
up to you then, if you were into it, what you saw,
what message you got out of it, how long you
were in it, what you did after you got out of it.
were in it, what you did after you got out of it.
That was the denouement…the cry of joy while
there still might have been time…what the first
half of the Twentieth Century was always longing for.
there still might have been time…what the first
half of the Twentieth Century was always longing for.
There is still the ripple in the pond of that freedom.
There is still music we love, air that we breathe,
there is still the unimaginable world that we
haven't, fully, yet explored.
there is still the unimaginable world that we
haven't, fully, yet explored.
