Shoe Fall #2

 A thousand feet, or only two,

what goes up must come down.

We know it’s falling and we’re

always surprised when it hits.

It’s the waiting that gets to us.

Would you know everything was

changing if you were in the middle

of it?  

Or, is it so close you can’t see?

No one thought the Twentieth Century

would happen that way…it happened

that way so very much.

It’s apropos that the first war of the 21st

Century would be a war for your minds.

A.I. is in the wings, smacking its lips.
