"Laugh while you can, Monkey Boy!”

White butterflies signal change of seasons,

surrendering to nature….

humanity thought it knew better…

at least, there’s jazz

for nights of regret.

Lord knows we tried.

Some did things, created things…

other’s tried to explain what 

we were doing and why

through science and philosophy

while the answers, long known

and forgotten in the flash of

industrial dazzle daze , moulded 

in ancient caves, collected dust 

on the shelves of the Vatican.  

Lord knows we tried…hell,

we probably couldn’t follow one 

commandment and chew gum

at the same time.

We can only stand the truth 

when sweetened by comedy,

and wind up

as the punchline.
