Politics in American - Part II

the mind cannot grasp the enormity
of what lies beyond
our bounded vision
nor the splendor of the mysterious
which seems offensive to the small mind
humanity is not important
to the universe
the base elements
are our better nature
operating on universal necessity
not the tribalism
racism
sexism
homophobia
nationalism
xenophobia
which the pimps of death
push in the brutality of war
humanity will leave no trace
our few years
pass like the blink of the cosmic eye
while the great splendor of nature
the hawk’s cry
the waves breaking on the shore
roll on
unconcerned with humanities’ ill gotten fate
poetry opens to greater wholeness
in continual discovery
we awaken to this great presence
pulled forth from the somnambulism of nature
conscious for a moment
capable of contemplation
of recognition of great nature
then gone again
