Jack Of All Trades
I almost titled it: “Jack Of All
Tirades”, but that would have been
too cute…but it filled a couple of
lines of writing, so, you see what I
did there? Thanks, Jeff.
No, I figured out, objectively, that I
was never stellar at anything, except
acting, but I was good enough at
everything. A lifetime B+ student,
let’s say…we had to do SATs for
college back then…adequate human
intelligence for the job I had to do.
I did do things, plumbing and theatre,
you don’t normally put together.
I had a friend who was an apprentice
plumber to Philip Glass. Philip Glass
hates if anyone knows he was once a
plumber. I think that’s funny that he’s
ashamed. Jack London was a seaman.
Neal Cassidy and Jack Kerouac worked
on the railroads. After a while,
Local professional theaters dried up,
somewhat replaced by comedy clubs.
Physical art was replaced by electronic
and manipulated art. Art imitating art.
But, to finish this because I lost track.
Men, the sweaty, dirty ones that come
home from work, are back.
