Threadbare

I was a plumber for thirty years.

Threadbare means the threads

on screw-in pipe are worn out or

crossed.

When it's threadbare, the pipe 

has no strength.

When it's threadbare, the pipe 

doesn't hold water. 

When it's threadbare, the pipe

can't stand the pressure.

When it's threadbare, you can't

stop the leaks.

The USA is threadbare.

The US Constitution is threadbare.

US politicians are threadbare.

US economy is threadbare.

American citizens' minds are threadbare.

Western Civilization is threadbare.
