Late Summer Poem

Late summer when the grass is high
and the afternoon barbecues, screened porch,
Uncle John’s fat belly…Aunt Bertha’s wisdom…
sweet corn, screaming kids and dogs, a great
big Yellow Family Jello….mellow with the
timelessness of complete temporary pleasure
